Hey whats up! This is the bass player from the band Point Left. We're currently looking to play some shows but we've got a problem. We can't really get anything set up right now. The local venue here in Danville recently shut down(apparently) and we've had some trouble getting in touch with other places such as the Somewhere Else Tavern.

We're currently a three-piece band but we're working with another guitarist to fill out our sound a little more. We have demos and you can check out our music on www.myspace.com/pointleft

If anyone knows of any venues in the VA-NC area or if any other bands want to get together and play some shows, please get in touch with me so we can set something up! Thanks!

Adam,

You may want to check out Alley Katz in downtown Richmond, as well as Toad's Place and Ahland Coffee and Tea, located in Ashland. Just google or myspace their names to get to their websites, and also visit our Music RVA website, @ www.musicrva.com. Thats a great place to start. Hope I have helped, best wishes and luck. If you are looking for an article or interview, let me know....

Toad's Place is http://www.toadsplacerva.com
Another place I would recommend in the heart of Richmond:
The Canal Club http://thecanalclub.com
There's even a club called ROCKS in Richmond, but I have yet to go there.

Hope this helps!

I understand Burly is hard to get a hold of, but he'll book anybody. I mean it. ANYBODY. Just keep trying if you wanna play there.

If I may suggest, I've found more success in NC at Volume 11 Tavern in Raleigh.

I'm trying to break into the Richmond scene myself. I've turned over ideas of going to Richmond, armed with press kits for my band, and using one of my contacts from Gwar to introduce me to booking agents for the clubs such as Alley Katz, the Canal Club, and Toad's Place.

If you worked in a club, booking bands, what would impress you in a press kit? We'd like to include a DVD of the live footage, as well as the usual EP and band photo and bio.
